Vision for a Rare Art Blog

Hello, and welcome to the first blog post! My vision for this art blog is to create a creative online journal that tells an artist’s story through authentic, inspiring, and educational content. While I cannot predict what will come out of it, I will do my best to deliver my vision as best as possible. Here are some of my first thoughts on this blog, and in the end, I will share what you can expect in the coming months.

Am I blogging the wrong way?

Many blogging experts say writing posts in personal form is a mistake because no one cares about the blogger. People only care about themselves, so you should write only about what people want. Art tutorials, simple DIY‘s, and shortcuts to all sorts of problems. Although this may be true, there is enough useful but impersonal information and instruction on the internet. On the other hand, if you want to read raw, genuine stories and experiences, it is almost impossible to find them in a blog form, especially on the art scene. Most famous art blogs are like online magazines with the most recent news, creative philosophy, or short stories of successful creators.

Where are all the artists who blog?

What about the people starting their careers and sharing their personal creative challenges? What about the raw and vulnerable stories of creation that are sometimes far more complex because of aspects of life that affect the creative ideas and artistic process? For instance, it can influence us to stop making art at all. Or it will make us create art that is out of this world. Where are these blogs? After all, these stories and details are most interesting and inspiring. I don’t believe it is meant to be reserved only for autobiographical books or should be shared as a recap of the past in a podcast. But maybe I am just looking from the wrong places?

Art blog I would like to create.

Given these points, I want to add something different to the art blogging space. I am not a great writer, but I believe readers can benefit from genuine and honest insights into the real life art journey that is happening right now. Because of that I will try to be as open and personal as possible. That does not mean every one of my posts on the way is filled with heavy thoughts and emotions. Most will be fun, and educational creative projects. But occasionally, I will share my challenges as a visual artist.

What I would like to share in the coming months:

  • “How to” posts – I am still self-learning art fundamentals and want to show the learning process. For example, I am practicing anatomy, composition, light, etc.
  • Sketches and sketchbook tours.
  • Share creative tips and how to stay inspired.
  • Show my drawing and painting processes – In digital and traditional.
  • Do some experimenting with art styles.
  • As this creative journal is also the story of my growth as an artist, where I plan to share educational chapters of my journey.
  • Talk about challenges in creative business.

Final thoughts and feeling on starting this blog.

I’m feeling nervous about writing and creating content for the first time. I’m not sure what my blog will be like or if it will differ from others. I don’t know if people care about personal stories anymore. I am curious if I can write my blog authentically enough and if I can deliver all the ideas I have. Sometimes, I wonder if there’s a “right” way to blog and if I’m doing it wrong. So many doubts and fears are coming up. Despite that, I try not to overanalyse, stay true to my intuition, and create this art weblog the way it comes out. Let’s see where it takes us.
